Osterman is the first DCC air rifle team member to qualify for this achievement in the program’s history. Prior to forming a team, the only other student to qualify was Christina Dutra in 2006 and 2007.
“My freshman year, I set the goal to qualify for this match by the time I graduated,” Osterman said. “I’m thankful to have the opportunity to compete at this level.”
In order to qualify for the event, athletes must first compete at the state level, where they participate in a 60 shot standing match to determine who advances. This competition is open to all competitors aged 21 and under.
“Elle has dedicated a lot of time and commitment to this achievement,” DCC Rifle Coach Bernie Snyder said. “She practices several days a week, and this accomplishment is well deserved. We are so proud of her.”
Osterman also shoots with the DuBois Junior Rifle team, which operates through the DuBois Rifle & Pistol club. She will join former club teammate and Ohio State standout Ella Sprague in representing the greater DuBois area at the competition.
