DCC Air Rifle Team prepares for another season!

Lead by retired PA State Police Officer, Bernie Snyder, DCC students are attending after-school classes to prepare for their "Basics of Rifle Shooting Student Examination", a course/examination prep designed by the NRA with the goal of preparing students for the safe operation of a firearm.  Students will learn safe gun handling, rifle components and how to operate them, shooting instruction, range rules and body shooting positions, and how to clean and properly take care of air rifle equipment.  The basic safety training involves both classroom instruction and hands-on learning at the range.

Many DCC students have expressed interest in learning air rifle shooting and several new students are preparing this year to join the team.  But, in order to be a team member, students must pass the basic safety training course by taking the NRA's student examination and be issued the NRA's course completion certificate.  This is a valuable course that keeps our students safe and allows them to understand the gravity of operating any type of firearm.

Over the past several years, the NRA has donated equipment worth thousands of dollars to the DCC Air Rifle Team making the teams existence possible and introducing students to a sport that is nationally prevalent.  The Air Rifle Team is the only sport offered at the post-secondary education level that allows students the opportunity to qualify for the Olympics.

We would like to thank the NRA for supporting the DCC Air Rifle Team so our students can continue with this opportunity.
