Sophomore Religious Retreat asks - "Who am I" and "Who will I become"

Who am I and Who will I Become? was the theme of the retreat.  Questions to ask ourselves that will lead to a deeper meaning of who we are, and what we strive to become.

“To look toward the future without God is a fantasy and, even worse, a potential nightmare. But to look ahead with God is not just a dream, but a reality filled with adventure.”

Sophomores from DuBois Central Catholic School reflected on these statements during a retreat led by Fr. Ben Daghir. Throughout the day, students were challenged to consider how to best use their own personal relationships, goals, fears, dreams, and challenges to fulfill the mission God has for each of them.

Retreats are offered to our students at each grade level on a yearly basis.  The purpose is to allow our students the time to build a closer relationship between God and themselves.  Through prayer and purposeful thinking, our students are encouraged to fulfill their God given purpose.

The retreat also discussed the interpretation of a c. 1599 painting called "The Calling of Matthew".  A piece of artwork that shows Jesus approaching Matthew, the tax collector, at a table and pointing/calling upon him.  What one can conclude from the painting is that Jesus will always know who we are and our capabilities for greatness.
