DuBois Central Catholic was honored when Bishop Persico visited our school for Mass on Wednesday, April 10. During Mass, the bishop gave a homily stressing the importance of allowing ourselves to listen to God as He calls us to follow him throughout our lives. When we listen, we find that God’s will for us is truly the path to happiness and peace. It was an important reminder for all of us, adults and students alike. After Mass the bishop spent some time with our students. The senior class especially enjoyed talking with him and discussing their plans for the future. Bishop Persico graciously ended his visit by joining the senior class for a group photo.
Later that evening, Bishop Persico attended a St Andrews Day Dinner at St. Catherine of Siena Church. The dinner is named in honor of St. Andrew, who is believed to have become a follower of Jesus after being invited to do so by John the Baptist. Andrew then convinced his brother Peter to join him as an apostle of Jesus. Priests in the church follow St. Andrew’s example when they invite others to follow Jesus. In this tradition, Bishop Persico, Father Jabo, the director of vocations for the Diocese of Erie, and other local priests hosted a dinner for twenty young men, including students from our school. The dinner provided an opportunity for these young men to learn more about the priesthood and about discerning God’s will in their lives. Please join with us in praying for these young men, along with all our young people, that hear their true calling as they plan for their futures.
